Udupi CMC Commissioner D Manjunathaiah transferred to Education Department

Udupi: In the backdrop of the upcoming Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections, as per the guidance of the Election Commission, the Udupi City Municipal Commissioner has been transferred to his former department of education with immediate effect by the order of the state government.

The transferred City Municipal Commissioner D Manjunathaiah’s position has been filled by Udupi Urban Development Authority Commissioner Janardhan. Meanwhile, Janardhan will also have to continue performing his responsibilities of the Udupi Urban Development Authority as per the order from the state government.

There has been no decision taken yet with regard to Manjunathaiah’s responsibilities in his post at the education department.

As per the state government’s order, Kundapura Town Council Chief Officer Gopalakrishna Shetty has been transferred to the Ullal Town Council of Dakshina Kannada District and Ullal Town Council Chief Officer Vani V Alva has been transferred to the Kundapura Town Council.

Meanwhile, the Chief Officer of Karkala Town Council Mabel D’Souza has been transferred to Thirthahalli Town Council of the Shivamogga District as Chief Town Council Officer and Nataraj, Chief Officer of Thirthahalli Town Council has been transferred to the Karkala Town Municipal Council.

“As per the Election Commission’s instructions, a list of those officers who have been in the same position for the past three years has been given to the State Election Commission. Hence, those working in the same department for more than three years have been transferred”, said Priyanka Mary Francis, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi District.
