To have healthy life, addiction should be kept aside ;Shivashankar Amarannanavar

Udupi: An addiction free society is the responsibility of every citizen said Shivashankar Amarannanavar, the District and Sessions Judge.

He was speaking on ‘Students Contribution to an Addiction Free Society’ a workshop organized by district information and broadcasting Department together with Karnataka state alcoholism moderation council, district legal services authority, the government first grade college and centre for post graduate studies, Thenkanidiyoor, on Monday, September 22.

Judge Amarannanavar,  said that to lead a healthy life addiction should be kept aside.  Addiction will not allow you to lead a normal life. It is important to realise that alcohol is not the solution for any disease.

Students should keep away from the deadly habits and fall prey to addiction. He called upon them to  understand the value of getting spoiled by addiction. He said that the students should come out of the western influence to lead a standard life and contribute to the progress of the nation.

Speaking on the occasion physicist P V Bhandari said that for more than 41% of disease happens due to various addictions. He said the increasing number of the sexual assault, suicides, depression, and accidents are because of addition.

He said the brain of the students aged 16 to 23 will not be completely developed. Hence it is essential for them not to trust in themselves. He said students have a moral obligation to fight against such social evils by saying no to alcohol consumption.
