Udupi: Even as questions are being raised about the death of Shiroor Seer Lakshmivaratheertha Swamiji, PK Naveen, spokesperson of the Math has ruled out the possibility of any foul play.

In an interview to a television channel, Naveen said that only a couple of days ago the seer had attended ‘Vanamahothsava’ event at Shiroor village and following this program at least eight persons had taken ill including the seer.

“The point is that the seer opted not to seek medical help for two days. He went to the hospital only two days after the incident, which may have taken a toll on the health,” he said adding that since he was at Shiroor and not in Udupi he may have opted to tolerate the health condition rather than going to the hospital.

Shockingly, it was on Thursday that the seer was supposed to go to court in connection to idol row that had sparked between Shiroor Math and seers of six other Maths.

The seer had claimed that idols of Shiroor Math that he gave to the temple during his ill health are not being returned by the seers of six maths as they have been keeping forth a condition to the Shiroor seer to first appoint a junior. This case had reached the court.

The seer had also earned the wrath of rest of maths for his recent statement that seers of the Ashtamath are not celibate and have fathered children.

The equation between Shiroor seer and rest of the seers had not been as cordial as it should have been in recent times and the rift had been out in open with the Shiroor seer speaking about the same from time to time.
