Udupi: Writers of the main books (MBKs) and local community resource persons (LCRPs) affiliated with the Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Promotion Agency ‘Sanjeevini,’ operating under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, held a protest in front of the Udupi Deputy Commissioner’s office. They were advocating for the fulfillment of several requests, including the establishment of minimum wages.
Following three years of post regularization, the government will be responsible for covering the salary, with Rs 20,000 designated for MBKs and Rs 15,000 for LCRPs. The salary, inclusive of travel allowances, is a key demand from the protesters. They are also urging the government to ensure the provision of ESI and PF facilities.
Labor Minister Santosh Lad, present at the protest site, stated that he would take necessary action upon receiving representations from the demonstrators. He assured that he would promptly discuss the matter with the Chief Minister upon his return to Bengaluru and take appropriate measures.
The demonstration concluded following the minister’s assurance. In attendance were MLC Manjunath Bhandari, Kundapur Taluk Secretary Suchitra, Treasurer Prameela, Hebri Taluk President P Sujatha, Udupi Taluk President Sujatha, Susheela, Ravikala, Usha, and others.
