Udupi: The three pet projects of the Narendra Modi government are the Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Swach Bharath Abhiyan and International Yoga Day, the postal department, a wing of the government has given it the required fillip with the release of commemorative stamps.

The stamps costing Rs 5/- apiece, have not been made available to the public as only 5 lakh stamps were printed and distributed initially. There is lot of demand for the stamps as limited number of stamps were printed.
M K Krishnayya a senior postal stamps collector has these new stamps. As a part of Beti Bachao Beti Padao campaign the stamp was first released on January 22, with the message to educate girl child and good health.
The stamp commemorative of the Swach Bharath Abhiyan was released on January 30 on the death anniversary of Gandhiji. Before releasing these cards, the postal department had organised Postal stamps design contest and 6 cards including the stamp designed by M Vaibhav Shenoy from Canara college were selected.
Another Postal stamp was released on June 21 International Yoga day by PM Modi and Dr D Veerendra Heggade with a symbol of yoga on it.
However there was a major clamour for the stamps and many collectors have picked up 5 to 10 stamps making the limited supply line go dry.
