Police raid illegal slaughter house, two arrested

Udupi: The Shirva police arrested two persons after a raid conducted on an illegal slaughter house located behind a house near the mosque at Belepu village on Friday, March 31.

The arrested are Hussain (30), a native of Megarvalli near Theerahalli presently residing near Belapu and Nissar Ahmed (28), a native of Belapu village.

Having received credible information that cow were being slaughtered illegally in the slaughterhouse for beef the police conducted a raid at the premises. While the police managed to nab two of the people, two others present at the scene managed to escape. The police are now on the lookout for the four accused of running this illegal slaughterhouse, including the two who fled the scene.

During the raid, the police seized nearly 200 kg beef packed in a plastic bag, a pregnant cow, weighing scale, chair and other equipments from the spot.

The raid was conducted by Shirva Police Station official Narasimha Shetty, under the supervision of Kaup Police Circle Inspector V. S. Halamurthy Rao.

Shirva Police are investigating the case.
