Police officials to work 24×7 to check human rights violations

Udupi: National Human power is like being toothless; it can just recommend or guide the state but cannot enforce any regulations -Shiva Shankar B Amarannanavar.

Additional City Civil & Sessions Judge Shiva Shankar B Amarannanavar was speaking at Human Rights day, which was being observed at DC office, Manipal.

He added that this year’s slogan “Human Rights 365”, encompasses the idea that every day is Human Rights Day.

“Human rights include moral principles and certain norms which decide human boundaries”, he said.

The celebration is to create awareness about the fundamental proposition in the Universal Declaration that each one of us, everywhere, at all times is entitled to human rights.

There are 30 points which comes under Human rights, equality, discrimination, right to live, no slavery, freedom to own, constitutional protection, and right to trial and so on.

Right to Education has been recently added to human rights. Any case related to atrocity, abuse, infant mortality, abortion will also come under human rights.

He further said that we have capital punishment here in India however in a few countries have banned it as it is violation of Human rights.  In India suicide has been considered as a crime, t if one survives it, which is also a violation of human rights

While speaking on the occasion Rajendra Prasad, SP said that it is the duty of police officials to work 24×7 to check human rights violation.

He added that public should also be aware of their own rights and fight for it,  and they can contact the concerned officials for help.
