Oscar Fernandes’ former employee to stage stir seeking salary dues

Udupi: A person, who reportedly worked for Rajya Sabha member Oscar Fernandes has decided to stage a hunger strike outside Freedom Park in Bengaluru from April 2 as last resort to get the salary owed to him.

Addressing a news conference on Monday, March 26, A Gopala Poojary said that he worked for Fernandes from 1972 to 87 and the leader is yet to pay Rs 6,07,321 dues.

Poojary, talking about his ordeal said that in 1995 he had complained about the same to Sonia Gandhi and she had promptly asked Fernandes to clear the dues. “Obliging to Mrs Gandhi’s words, he paid only Rs 10,000,” he said adding that about 15 days ago, he re-submitted a letter to Fernandes about the salalry. The same letter was also forwarded to the Chief Minister, district in-charge minister, KPCC President and District Commissioner. “I am yet to receive reply this time,” he said adding that when all the means to get his salary dues failed, he made up his mind to stage a stir.

A Gopala Poojary’s wife Chanchala was also present during the press meet.
