Udupi: One person died after a fishing boat sank off coast of Malpe on Tuesday morning, July 19.

The deceased has been identified as Annayya (50).

Sources said that 10 fishermen had left in a fishing boat. The boat sank after experiencing bad weather conditions when it was two kilometres off the coast in the sea near Badanidiyuru. Nine persons swam to safety.

The dead body was retrieved and shifted to hospital.

Malpe police have registered a case.
