Udupi: In the wake of frequent power cuts in the district, Udupi Nagarika Samiti headed by Nityananda Olakadu staged a unique protest late evening on Tuesday, October 27.
As the day turned dusky, Olakadu accompanied with a few Yakshagana artists dressed as Asuras took out a protest rally from Sanskrit College to the MESCOM office via Chittaranjan Circle. They then lit hundreds of candles in front of the MESCOM Office condemning their work efficiency.

It may be recalled that the Udupi MLA had recently announced that the entire district will be facilitated adequate power supply 24 hours a day adding that he had directed the officials concerned in this regard. However, the assurance has only been a hoax till date.
