Udupi: ‘Udupi Habba’ an one-day cultural extravaganza, hosted by popular television channel Muktha TV here on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami has begun telecast of the programme on its channel from September 21. The same will go on till September 30.
Speaking at the event held in Jayakrishna Auditorium of Hotel Mathura Comforts, district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj stated that the media should also give importance to cultural activities along with news.
The mega event was inaugurated through lighting the lamp by his Holiness Sri Sri Sri Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Sri Puthige Mutt and Sri Sri Sri Vishwa Prasanna Swamiji of Sri Pejavar Mutt. Both the seers blessed the program.
Sri Kakkunje Nagananda Vasudev Acharya, Former Minister Jayaprakash Hedge, Congress leader M.A Gafoor, members of Udupi Municipal corporation, Smt Amrutha Krishnamoorthi, Sri Shyam Pramod Kudva, Sri Yashpal Suvarna, B.J.P Leader Udayakumar Shetty, Sri Gurme Suresh Shetty, Former MLA Sri Raghupathi Bhat, Former MLA Sri Gopal Bhandari, industrialist Sri Jagadish Pai, Sri Guruprasad Rao, Manager, Bhima Jewellers, Udupi and the former chairperson of Lioness Club Nirupama Shetty were the chief guests.
The cultural events were staged in beautiful decorated stage with traditional colours and glitters. More than 100 kids took place in “Muddu Krishna – Muddu Radhe” competition in two age groups (0-5 and 5-10). Smt. Sneha Acharya, Smt. Sumana Acharya and Smt. Shubha Bhasri were the judges for the competition.
Amshika, Arush and Akshaj stood first, second and third respectively in the 0-5 years category while Chaithali, Adhish and Gouthami stood first, second and third respectively in the 5-10 years category.
The closing and prize distribution program was blessed by his holiness Sri Sri Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji of Sri Shirooru Mutt. The cultural events after the closing included “Krishna Nee Begane Baro”- a musical presentation to Lord Krishna by the talented young artists and “Nrithya Neelanjana”- a dance presentation of various renowned dance groups of Udupi and around. The cultural events attracted thousands of art loving audience and received applauds.
