Karkala :Manjunath Poojary, member of Hebri district panchayath, lambasted the Modi govt for their U turn on theTiger project at a press conference recently.

“Those who came to power in the name of people, have made us homeless. The BJP government  under Narendra Modi has approved the Tiger conservation project and more than 1400 families belonging to Malekudiya community located in 32 villages  are now in the streets. Despite this, Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar and MP Shobha Karandlaje are not opening thier mouth”, he complained.

“During the run up to the Vidhan Sabha election, Malekudiya and the voters of that region were fooled by the BJP people. BJP teams were sent to their houses and they fooled the families saying that UPA Govt will approve the Tiger project. So the BJP got votes by false statements about UPA. But now the BJP govt. at the center and the Union environment minister Prakash Javdekar have officially approved the project. But here MLA Sunil Kumar is creating drama by saying that he will protest and will not allow them to implement the  project”, he alleged.

Poojary alleged that “Yediyurappa led BJP  govt. had written to the UPA govt. regarding Tiger conservation project in Kudremukha Rakshitaranya area as per the directions of SC, but MLA Gopala Bhandary and Jayaprakash Hegde opposed the project then and the project was stalled. However when union minister Prakash Javdekar approved the Tiger conservation project, Shobha Karandlaje, who had come to power through the votes of those affected by tiger project did not oppose it. This govt. which came to power by saying Acche din aanewale hai, have fooled the people.”

“Though the Modi govt. has cleared the Tiger conservation project, MLA Sunil Kumar is simply accusing state govt. He is opposing the project only in front of the media and this is nothing but mere drama”, he alleged.

“When BJP declared Modi as thier PM candidate, they had put picture of roaring tiger along with Modi and local BJP leaders in the cutouts. But it is now we have understood its real meaning”, he criticised.
