Karkala: A mobile tower, which has been installed in front of a Hosmaru Government School in Idu village has caused a panic among locals also people started a protest against its removal.

Even after locals held the protest, district administration has not taken any action in this regard. The school comes on the way of Bajagoli-Belthangady state highway.

The Idu village has been declared a naxal affected zone, besides students take great difficulty to reach at this school, which is located within dense forest area as no proper road facility is available; also except on holidays students remain in school till 6 pm.

Reportedly, locals have complained about the after-effects of a mobile tower, also urged to representatives and district administration to shift the tower, but the issue is lingering up till now, due to the transfer of a district commissioner.

Terror of Endosulfan:

People are being affected due to the usage of a deadly pesticide Endosulfan in arecanut farming; its after effects are well known among the people where kids are suffering from the malnutrition, handicapped children are born, besides victims have been developing disfigurement of skeletal structure, babies too born with disfigurement, blinding and many other physical and psycho-somatic disorder affect them.

However, before people could forget the critical tragedy of Endosulfan, the issue of mobile tower has alarmed the villagers.
