MLA Madhwaraj: “Homeless must be given priority in land allotment scheme”

Udupi: Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA,  in a review meeting with PDO’s said that priority should be given to every genuine applicant, who are in need of houses in the district.
He instructed the officials to give priority to the applicants who stay in rented houses or those who are homeless. He added that even though the applicant submits all the necessary documents, officials should verify the reason for any wrong documentation and if it is because the applicant is uneducated they should be helped.

He directed that segregation of applicants should be decided early. The scrutinized and re-verified application should be finalized by July 30. However there is no no deadline for the aspirants to submit the applications, he added.

Distribution of land should be done without influence. First list of 1400 applications would be under final scrutiny by August and the second list which would have 1020 applications and would be scrutinized by August 30, remaining will be put under the B list.

He directed the officials that the private parties should not be involved in this deal which would result in public private partnership.

He added that the migrated workers who reside in the tent nearby Brahmavar Sugar factory should be given temporary shelter, as their habitat is in danger. The tent houses are very close to the national highway, which may cause accidents.
