Udupi: The dead body of a man who went missing on January 16 under mysterious circumstances was found lying at Uchila seashore on Monday January 23.
The man has been identified as Rajesh, a native of Hassan. He was residing at his aunt’s home in Kodical since the last five years to pursue his education.
Rajesh had been working at a computer and xerox outlet in the area since the last few months. On January 16, he left for work as usual but did not come back. His relatives lodged a missing complaint at Urwa police station after a search yielded no results.
On Monday morning the local fishermen found an unidentified body lying on the seashore behind Lord Mahalingeshwara temple at Uchila and intimated the police. The Padubidri police took the body to the mortuary at the government primary health centre at Padubidri and intimated other police stations in the twin-districts, informing them about the body for identification purposes. Thereafter, Urva police contacted relatives of Rajesh to go to Padubidri to check whether the body found was that of Rajesh.
The relatives identified the body with the help of the clothes he had worn since the body was in a thoroughly decomposed state. It is believed that Rajesh being frustrated that he was unable to achieve his aspirations may have committed suicide.
