Miscreants damage St Antony’s statue in Kundapur

Kundapur: A group of miscreants damaged the statue of St Antony at St antony’s chapel, kandlur near Kundapur recently.

Police sources said that the one feet tall statue was damaged between 11 p.m. on Sunday and 6.30 a.m. on Monday by miscreants. The statue was covered by a glass case from three sides. The devotees of chapel noticed the incident on Monday morning.

Police rushed to the spot when chapel authorities informed the police about the incident.

Commenting on the incident Parish Priest of Basrur Church Fr Vishal Lobo said that for the first time in Kandlur such community enemity has been seen. Miscreants have not touched the donation box kept near the statue; it shows the miscreants have deliberately damaged the statue.

A case has been filed at the Kundapur police station regarding the incident.
