Udupi: The 19th Zilla Panchayath General body meeting was interrupted when one of the member Ananth Kumar Muwadi, raised voice against the present Deputy Commissioner, Dr Vishal for his attitude like that of a dictator against the elected candidates.

Muwadi, said that both the previous DC’s, M. T Reju and Pattana Shetty had ordered Thashildar, Revenue officials or ADC should attend the ZP meetings and importance should be given to revenue related issues at the beginning of the meeting, which was agreed by all the members.

The other members in the meeting also agreed that the present DC, Dr Vishal has a British way of rule. They said that DC disrespected Panchayath Raj system by not sending his subordinate to the ZP meeting.

The afternoon session re-started after the lunch break.

Apart from the above disruption, Savitha Shivandha Kotyan, Udupi Zilla Panchayath president said that Kastoori Rangan report and Tiger project has been always in favour of the district which was opposed by most of the members.

Manjunath Poojari raised the issue of Kastoori Rangan report and said that state and central governments should drop the project as there was no physical verification and GP level meeting was not carried out.

Kasthuri Rangan report called for a central buffer zone through satellite verification and it affected nearly 35 villages including Kundapura and Karkala taluk in the district.

DFO Ravi Shankar said that, “the given time duration was not enough for the field verification so a report has been forwarded to the government stating the same.”

Another important issue was Varahi irrigation project, Ganapathi Sriyan, member demanded time limit from the Engineers and contractor.

Engineer Srikandayya said that by the end of March 2015 the project of left bank irrigation will be completed.

Uday Kotian said that even after lifting ban on Kambala, local sub inspector, Thahshildar and veternary doctors are creating disturbance in the region. Answering to his question ZP president assured that such things will be controlled soon.

Other demands like fastening the NH work before rainy season and CC Cameras at schools etc were also discussed.
