Udupi: “Through small scale industries the employment opportunities should be improvised”, said Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was speaking after the inauguration of the ‘Udyoga Mela’ organized by the district administration at MGM College, Udupi on December 22.

The Minister added that Udupi is a city of literates. However as far as  job opportunities are concerned, we lag behind. we have the capacity to set industries, which will not harm the environment and give more and more employment opportunity to the younger generations.

He added “importance should be given to the tourism and software sectors. It is a city of educational institutes, lakhs of students come here for higher education. But when it comes to the job opportunities, the public here has to migrate to other districts or states”.

He called upon more and more investors to show interest in developing industries here and prevent youth migrating to other places in search of jobs.

He also said job fairs like this would help students to pursue their career and simultaneously lead to the empowerment of youths. A proposal has been sent to set up employment oriented ITI’s and polytechnic courses in the district.
