Karkala: A scribe from Karkala was assaulted during a press meet organised at BJP office on March 17.

R B Jagadish, a journalist from Karkala was assaulted by Vasanth Belthangady, editor of a weekly. Following assault, the journalist has filed a complaint at Karkala town police station.

The incident occurred on Friday during a BJP press conference in its office premises. Jagadish, who is the probationary president of Karkala Journalists Association when requested the organisers to follow the rules and regulations laid by the association, Vasanth objected to it. Jagadish told him that only the president and those having membership of district committee could object to it, not the non-journalists. He also made it clear that those not having membership are not eligible to be in the association too.

An embarrassed Vasanth took off the camera stand and hit Jagadish.

Meanwhile, Vasanth has filed a counter-complaint against Jagadish.
