Karkala’s Mangalore Road in dire straits

Karkala : One of Karkala town’s prominent road-The Mangalore Road is in a bad shape. Though the road has been asphalted several times, the true nature of the standard of world undertake stands revealed during monsoons, when the road reverts back to its original shape. It is nothing but an irony that several leaders have risen to power after promising better roads, with none however evincing keen interest in developing the roads.

The Mangalore Road which initially was  under the PWD  was handed over to the TMC after the construction of the bye pass road. Though the road has been asphalted by the TMC once in two years, that has not improved the condition.

There have been several protests to find a permanent solution to the problem but of no avail. If the condition of road is bad, even the side drains are not in good shape and whenever it rains, water flows royally right on the road itself.

Now that the Karkala Bahubali Mahamastakabhisheka is on anvil in January next year, naturally the state as well as Central governments will release funds for basic infrastructure development. The citizens of the town hope the TMC would take up the concretisation of Mangalore Road utilising the funds.
