‘Information sought under RTI should be given within stipulated time frame’

Udupi: Karnataka State Information Commissioner K M Chandregowda said that the government officials should provide information, requested under the Right to Information (RTI) Act within a stipulated time frame.

He was speaking at the training of public information officers of various government departments and the inquiry into the cases filed from Udupi with the Information Commission.

Of the 71 cases filed for review with the state information commission from the district, more than 50 were adjudicated by the Information Commissioner. He also fixed a date of hearing for the other outstanding cases.

He also explained the finer points of the Right to Information Act 2005 and clarified the doubts of the officials regarding the applicability of the law to various complicated issues.
