Karkala: Pride, a long time rivalry with a tinge of differing party ideologies ultimately led two town municipal councillors to lodge FIRs against each other.
Interestingly, both have accused each other of verbal abuse, manhandling, physical assault and threat to individual lives.

The councillors belonging to the ruling and opposition parties differed on ideologies too.

It is gathered, that both belonging to same community used to indulge in verbal duels in the past but in the last TMC meeting they went a step ahead with their fists doing the talking. BJP members alleged of assault when they were in a discussion with Taluk Panchayath President Maniraj Shetty adding a new twist to the duel.

Young councillors Prakash Rao from BJP and Shubadh Rao from Congress finally ended lodging complaints against each other. Based on their individual complaints, police registered First Investigation Reports (FIR) against them.
