Udupi: Amritpal, the new IGP Western Range said Naxal activities are increasing constantly in contiguous states areas like Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
As per the available intelligence reports in Karnataka especially in western range areas, there are anticipated to be around 20 naxals, the IGP informed the press on Friday October 10.

IG said that the government has come up with better opportunities for the naxals who surrender themselves, he said, “we have a rehabilitation package for them; however there are certain rules regulations, before offering any financial help.”
New police recruitments

He added that there is a shortage of 20,000 police in the state however government has recruited 7000 police already and rest 7000 will be recruited soon. For filling further 6,000 police, home guards are deputed for general work, he said.
