Udupi: Gram Panchayat (GP) elections  went off peacefully with an overall 71.65 % polling in the district on Friday May 29.
The voter eagerly participated in the polling process. Votes reported at the  taluk level reflected the overall percentage with Udupi @ 70.55 %, Kundapur @ 71.19 %, and Karkala @ 74.93 %.

Elections were held for the 2126 seats in 155 gram panchyaths with 4,740 candidates in the fray.

The district voting percentage was constantly increasing with the passing time. It was 16.16 % at 9.30 am, 35.65 % at 11.30 am and 59.66 percent at 3 pm respectively.

Most of the people cast their votes thinking it as their responsibility, first timers looked excited to vote.  Aged people were assisted by younger ones.
