Udupi: Contemporary writer and editor of Kannada Prabha (Supplement) Girish Rao Hatwar has been chosen for the Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Journalism Award instituted by the Brahmavar Taluk Journalists’ Association.
At a press meet at the Press Club on August 2, President of Brahmavar Taluk Working Journalists’ Association Chittur Prabhakar Acharya announced that the award presentation programme would be held on Sunday, August 5 at Bunts Bhavan, Brahmavar.
“An interactive discussion on the topic of “Politics–Law–Journalism” will be held on the occasion by a panel comprising journalist Sudhir Kumar Murali, former MLA Y S V Datta and entrepreneur Suresh Shetty Gurme,” he said.
Dr. Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Group of Institutions will inaugurate the programme. Eminent writer and lyricist Jayanth Kaikini will present the prestigious award.
During the programme, Anand C Kundar, Proprietor of Geethanand Trust; Halady Srinivas Shetty, Kundapur MLA; Maranakatte Krishnamurthy Manja, businessman and proprietor of M S Manja Charitable Trust; Shandy Ajithkumar Hegde, CEO of Karnataka State Cool Drink Ltd; Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, President of Udupi District Working Journalists Association; Suggi Sudhakar Shetty, Entrepreneur and Sudhakar Hegde, Convener of Bunts Union will be present.
Yakshagana play “Veera Abhimanyu” will be performed by Udupi Press Club members under the direction of Bannanje Sanjeega Suvarna at 4 PM. Another Yakshagana play “Rajarudrakopa” will also be performed.
