Gere-Bare Art house; unique art on Egg shells

Udupi: A unique art experiment  in a camp-cum-workshop at Gere-Bare art house in Ambagilu, named ‘Art made by empty egg shells’ was held on Monday November 3, and attracted a large number of participation.

Nearly 60 students participated in the fun-filled day of art and creativity.

A student said that art has no boundaries and imagination of a wise artist can give shape to anything. Artists here have proved that even eggshells can be used in such innovative ways. It is an experiment to encourage fine art in a different ways.

Effective egg art needs exceptional talent. Artists find a way to get exposure  for their art forms. Camps like this will give artists an opportunity to come up with creativity irrespective of their ages and gender, said one of the participants.

The artists here used the roof of the eggshell as their canvas under the guidance of experts. The egg art was segregated into two forms, they were, natural based art and personalities based drawings.

Portraits of the ten-headed Ravana, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Sri Krishna, Yakshagana faces, Politicians and many others were included in the art work.

The art on eggshells teach the children how to work on the sensitive things, said an expert.

Gere-Bare art house director Jeevan Shetty said that in western countries the artists use Ostrich eggs to draw and paint that gives them an extra space to show their creativity as the eggs are larger.
