Udupi: At Gangolli port in Byndoor taluk of Udupi district, a tragic incident unfolded as seven moored boats caught fire. Initially sparked on one vessel, the fire spread to seven neighboring fishing boats, leading to the complete destruction of all seven.
The fire erupted while the fishermen were conducting a Diwali puja. Suspected to have been triggered by fireworks, it has yet to be contained despite ongoing efforts by the local fire brigade. The incident has resulted in a significant financial loss running into crores of rupees.
