Experts discuss HR Tomorrow – Challenges Ahead at Manipal

Udupi: School of Management – Manipal University organized ‘HR Tomorrow – Challenges Ahead’ as a part of the HR Conclave – 2015 at MIT Seminar Hall on February 21.

The theme for the HR Conclave organized by HURRICANE, the HR forum of School of Management, Manipal is a platform for fostering business and aimed at academia integration exclusively at corporate organizations.

Shashikanth Jayaraman, Head- HR, TVS Automobile Solutions Ltd, Chennai was the chief guest for the inaugural function. Dr.K.Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor, Manipal University presided over the function.

Jayaraman in his introductory speech emphasized the importance of harnessing diversity in today’s organization which will give a competitive edge to the organization by strengthening cultural values within the organization.

He stressed that the organization should also focus on other forms of diversity in terms of attitude, expectations, needs and careers.

Sridhar Murthy, Senior Executive-HR, SPAN Infotech (India), Pvt. Ltd. started his talk by introducing the concept of Human Capital Management to the audience. He further spoke about the need for linking business strategy and human capital management, the importance of measuring the value and impact of human capital. He also discussed the various approaches to measure Human Capital.

Roopa Patil, Manager-Talent Acquisition, Mindtree, Bangalore started off with a discussion on various contemporary challenges in the area of HRM. She listed out the various myriad challenges faced by the HR Managers in managing the present day work force. Some of the challenges faced by the HR managers include diverse workforce, legislation affecting the workplace and technology, she said.

She also said that the latest developments like Green HRM, IHRM, SHRM, Chronic Health Issues, Organizational Development and Change, Career management and Development of Employee Benefits and Compensation also possess a new set of challenge to the HR Managers.
