Udupi: After Karnataka’s high court upheld the decision of the Bengaluru city police commissioner M N Reddi to ban the controversial Hindu leader Pravin Togadia from entering Bengaluru City, the Udupi Superintendent of Police (SP) told Newskarnataka.com that a decision on the entry of the international working president of the VHP into the city would be taken within a week.

The staunch Hindu leader has not, so far, sent the request letter to the department seeking permission to climb the stage on March 9 to address the Hindu Samajotsava at MGM college ground. A meeting would be convened once the Commissioner receives the request letter.
Speaking to Newskarnataka.com, the Udupi SP, K Annamalai said, “we are waiting for the letter of request seeking permission to deliver a speech at the rally on March 9″. He hoped that the department would receive the letter in 2-3 days, following which a meeting would be convened to take a decision on his entry to the city. “We will take an appropriate decision taking note of all consequences of his entry to the city”, the SP, said.
It may be recalled that Togadia was barred from stepping inside Bengaluru city citing his inflammatory speeches as the cause of law and order disturbances during his recent visit to the state. Though he complied with the orders, the organizers of Hindu Samajotsava beamed a recorded speech of the latter.
A case has been booked under Section 188 of IPC for violating rules and exceeding the permitted time limit of the programme at Bangalore. Another case has been registered under Section 143 and 180 for playing a 15-minute video recording of Togadia’s speech and yet another case under Section 353 for deterring police officers from discharging their duties, in Shankarapuram police station.
