Cop dies of cardiac arrest while chasing drug peddler

Udupi: A head constable who was chasing a drug peddler died of cardiac arrest here, on Thursday October 8.

According to Udupi police, the police officer who was chasing a drug peddler suddenly developed severe chest pain. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Santhosh was deputed to the district crime investigation bureau of Udupi. He also rendered his services in excise and anti lottery squad in Udupi.

A case had been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station and investigations were on, the police said.

Santosh is survived by his wife and an eight year old daughter.

Superintendent of Police K. Annamalai who visited the family, paid his condolences. Sources said that the final rites will be held on October 10.
