Circle police inspector S V Girish moved out of Manipal for dereliction of duty

Udupi: Circle police inspector of Manipal station, S V Girish has been shunted out of Manipal for dereliction of duty. Sampath Kumar will now take charge as the circle police inspector of Manipal.

District in-charge minister, Pramod Madhwaraj had earlier written to Home Minister G Parameshwara and sought the Circle Inspector’s transfer. Girish was accused of dereliction of duty in the Bhasker Shetty murder case. The complainants who accused Girish of using delaying tactics in the investigation had met Madhwaraj requesting him to take action against the Circle inspector.

The district superintendent of police (SP), K T Balakrishna had ordered an internal departmental inquiry against Girish. Assistant superintendent of police, Vishnuvardhan who lead the inquiry team, had submitted the report of his findings. Balakrishna had forwarded the report to inspector general of police.

As per the directions of the IGP, Girish has been posted on office duty to the district crime intelligence bureau on temporary basis.
