Udupi: A chaos erupted at the general body meeting of Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) on Saturday June 29, after the Councilors of the ruling and opposition took-up a fight.

Several objections over the tendering process were objected by the opposition BJP members, due to which the countering Congress party made explanations that soon broke into a fight.
MR Pai, Leader of the opposition, claimed that CMC Commissioner Srikant Rao in his report to the Assistant Commissioner has accepted that out of 37 works, 15 were already completed and re-tender is been called for the same again.
This is the best example for the violation of rules and irregularities in the administration, Pai said. He moreover lamented that the Commissioner who is well aware of the rules and regulations of Panchayath Raj Act did not comply against the guidelines.
CMC commissioner Srikanth Rao said that the estimate was drafted on March 5, 2014 and the works were not taken up during that time because of code of conduct. The tendering process started on May 19. There was a gap between estimate period and calling of the tender for the construction, during which the works were completed.
CMC president P Yuvaraj said that DC had ordered for an inquiry in this regard. Assistant Commissioner S Yogishwar will check the issue. CMC will await his report and act according to his recommendations.
Yuvraj also said that it is a baseless the allegations that he is weak.
