Karkala: A case has been registered against Karkala City Police Station SI Imran for allegedly assaulting Raghavendra Moily (27), a resident of Jayanti Nagar, Kukkundoor.
The root cause of the issue was Raghavendra accidentally brushing past Imran’s wife while coming out of a grocery store at Salmar. Feeling offended, the woman complained to her husband who then thrashed Raghavendra black and blue, first on the spot and then at the police station.
I am not at fault: Raghavendra
Narrating the incident, Raghavendra said, “At around 9.30pm on Tuesday, I was moving out of the grocery out while I accidentally came in contact with the woman. Fumed with this, SI Imran first slapped me and kicked me in full public view. He then called a police jeep, took to me to the station where he directed two constables to hold my hands and beat me on my private parts with a stick. Now, I am neither able to walk nor sit. I can’t even write as my index finger is broken.”
Speaking further he said that two policemen dropped him near the taluk government hospital. However, as there were no doctors, he was attended to only on Wednesday evening.
Sole bread earner of the family
Raghavendra’s father Sheena Moily, employed at Vijaya Bank passed away recently while he was still working there. Hoping that he would bag a job at his father’s office, Raghavendra quit his Hotel Management studies and is now employed at a private firm for the time being.
The family has a loan which was taken to get the eldest daughter married to be payed off. “Raghavendra used to manage the debt and also the household expenses. Now, with him being unable to work, we are laced with crisis,” his mother said.
Meanwhile, Imran’s wife has filed a counter case alleging that Raghavendra misbehaved with her.
