Udupi :More than 15 people were injured when a bus fell into a wide ditch at Pamboor in Bantakal at Shirva on Thursday September 4.

The private bus was plying from Pamboor-Padubelle towards Kunjarugiri turned turtle while attempting to overtake another vehicle. There was a wide ditch on the road for laying cables since a long time. The road construction work is also going on in the area.

The driver lost control while over taking on the narrow road and fell into the ditch. A few students were also injured in the accident and admitted to a private hospital while others were discharged after administering first aid.

Locals rescued the passengers by breaking the emergency window panels.

The locals blamed the contractor for the incident for delaying the road construction work,

A case is registered in the Shirva police station and the bus driver and the contractor are booked for their negligence.
