Udupi: The Brahmavara Town Congress Committee is demanding “Brahmavar Town Municipal Council” in order to develop the town comprising in it Kumrakodu, Dandadi, Matpady, Chantaru, 52th Heroor, Baikadi, Varamballi, Haradi, Nilavara and Aroor villages, said Rajesh Shetty Kumrakodu.
Speaking with media persons at Udupi Press Club, he said a memorandum seeking taluk and town councils was submitted to Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa and Town Administration Minister Iswara Kandse in the presence of District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj. Both the ministers had responded positively and in the coming budget there was a likelihood of Brahmavara getting the taluk status, Kumrakodu added.
The above villages have not developed due to the lack of basic needs, he lamented. Prior to the formation of Brahmavara taluk, the need of the hour is to create Brahmavara Town Council including Kumarkodu, Dandadi, Matpady, Chantaru, Baikadi, Varamballi, Haradi, Nilavara, Aroor and 52th Heroor villages in its jurisdiction, he opined.
Varamballi Grama Panchayat President Nithyananda, Brahmavara Town unit Block Congress General Secretary Devanand, Working Secretary Tajauddin Ibrahim and Vice President Altaf Ahmed were present.
