Brahmavar, Byndoor will be upgraded into town panchayats shortly: Sorake

Udupi: The demand for converting Byndoor and Brahmavar into town panchayats has been long pending issue, admitted Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Speaking to NewsKarnataka, he said that  the area has been rapidly developing and has all the characteristics to be an urban area, he said.

He informed that there are already offices of Special Tahsildars at Brahmavar and Byndoor. He also assured that Hebri in the coming days will also have the taluk headquarters.

It was during the chief ministership of Jagadish Shettar that the creation of 43 taluks in the State including Brahmavar and Byndoor was announced. This was a long pending demand of the people of the district. The then State government had allotted Rs. 2 crore each for the formation of all new 43 taluks.
