Boat sinks at Gangolli bunder; fishermen escape with minor injuries

Gangolli: A boat with four fishermen sunk at Gangolli bunder at 6 am, on Sunday, August 9. However, the fisherman survived with small injuries.

The fishermen included Manjunath (43), Prabhakar (28), Ishwar (28) and Panduranga (46). The fishing boat named ‘Manjunath Kripa’ belongs to Shusheela from Gangolli.

As usual, the group started their work early in the morning. After reaching a few metres away from Bunder, the waves turned harsh and hit the boat, and they are said to have lost control and the boat drowned.

As they were not in a deep sea and there were other boats around, the fishermen were saved.  Later they were admitted to a hospital at Kundapur.

The boat owner is said to have lost lakhs of rupees, as it went completely under water. Local MLA Gopal Bhandari , visited Bunder and took stock of the situation.
