Udupi :Members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Udupi unit staged a protest in front of the Clock Tower on Monday against the increasing atrocities on women in the State.



Sheela K. Shetty, BJP leader said that the state government failed to take necessary steps towards the increasing atrocities against women especially students.
The atrocity cases on women keep increasing day by day, from last few weeks, 4 to 5 cases of atrocity or molestation are reported every day in the state.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister K.J. George had proved to be incompetent in handling the situation and they should resign, they said.
Ms. Shetty demanded implementation of strict laws on sexual assault and should not be grant bail.
She stressed that students should be trained in self defence. It would be better to ban the use of mobile telephones in schools and colleges she added.
BJP state secretary Shyamal Kundar, ZP president Upendra Nayak former BJP chief UdayKumar Shetty and others were present.
