Udupi: The State President of BJP Prahlad Joshi demanded the State government to immediately form a disaster management committee to provide proper compensation, to the needy at the time of calamity.
Speaking to the media on Sunday September 7, he said, “The state is on a probability of being under natural calamity however the CM is sleeping, as he does in the assembly sessions.”
Adding to his aggravation Joshi said that it is noticed by the central government that no sufficient staff has been employed to survey and evaluate the damage at present. He stressed that sufficient staff must be appointed and a disaster management committee must report the central or state government on a regular basis.
Claiming the State government of being lethargic, Joshi said that this year rain cost loss of 2 hectors of agricultural land, nearly 10,000 houses are partially or fully damaged, 3000 kilometer length stretch is damaged, around 300 bridges are collapsed and about 100 ponds are broken. More than two lakh hectares crops like green gram, cotton, maize, groundnuts are damaged in different part of the state.
Joshi also added that in Yadgiri, a house was completely collapsed and a child was killed still compensation offered was only Rs 15,000 and the officials record declares the house as partially damaged, this is the pathetic condition of the State government.
Chief Minister is not interested in submitting a report or conducting a video conferencing to claim the damage with the Central government. Siddaramaiah should direct the district in charge ministers to make the assessment of damages in the concern area.
He also said that Ministers should not be the head for the two Cabinet Committees formed for Energy and NICE Road issue. The responsibility should be given to other senior legislators.
Answering a query on the Myathari – Karthik Gowda saga, he said the issue is in the court and its decision will be acceptable. Now question is the reliability of the girl’s statement let wait till the investigation is over.
He further added that the party is not protecting him nor against him, the court will decide he concluded.
