Udupi: The Bhasker Shetty murder case that has taken the entire coastal region by storm has now galvanised the Bunt community.
On Tuesday, the Bunt community members held a meet in Ammani Rammanna Shetty hall and said that they have no faith in police investigation as they feel that crores of rupees have changed hands in connection to the gruesome killing. The meeting mainly aimed at bringing pressure on the police to brisk up the probe into the case. The grieving mother and siblings of Bhasker Shetty were seen taking part in the meet.
Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Sheela Shetty said that Rajeshwari had spoken to the police and astrologer and accused Niranjan Bhat about giving them adequate money from Bhasker Shetty’s fortune and hence there is no chance of police doing any kind of justice to Bhasker Shetty.
“This kind of a demonic woman must be boycotted and ostracised,” she said adding that when the culprits were being taken to Court, son Navaneeth was seated in the place of the Sub Inspector in the police van. “Who will have any faith on police when the murderers are being treated with so much respect,” she questioned.
Human Rights Association District President Uday Kumar Shetty said that the community will not allow the probe to derail. Meanwhile, many in the meet said that no advocate from Bunt community must take up the case for the accused and if anyone has taken it up then they should immediately back out.
Meanwhile, it is also said that investigating officer of the case has been changed, but the police sources are refraining from confirming the same.
Family members of Shetty, who were seen with damp eyes said that despite 10 days of the brutal killing, the police have failed to gather crucial evidence that could nail the accused.
Many have also demanded that they have no faith in the police probe and hence either the CID or the CBI should probe into this killing where the victim is the owner of property worth crores and crores of rupees.
