Udupi: In a significant breakthrough, the Shankaranarayan police have apprehended three suspects involved in a recent betel nut theft case. The arrested individuals have been identified as Amir Zainuddin, 23, hailing from Gulwadi in Kundapur; Nisar Asif Annar, 24, residing in Usman Nagar, Bhatkal; and Munawar, 21, a resident of Bilalkhand in Bhatkal.
The suspects stand accused of breaking into multiple betel nut trading shops within the jurisdiction of the Shankar Narayan police station. Their activities extended to areas such as Haladi and Kodra Bailuru, as well as in Kollur Police Station limits at Jadkal and in Nojadi under the jurisdiction of the Gangolli police station.
Law enforcement officers have successfully recovered 11.65 quintals of betel nuts from the perpetrators, along with a pickup van and scooters utilized during the commission of the crimes. The total estimated value of the recovered items amounts to Rs 4.05 lakh. Following their arrest, the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
