Udupi: The Central Government has imposed a ban on the production, sale, and utilization of fireworks that exceed 125 decibels (A1) in terms of noise output. This effectively renders the manufacture, sale, and usage of such loud fireworks illegal. Deputy Commissioner Vidyakumari has made it clear that those who breach this regulation will face appropriate legal consequences.
During the Diwali festival celebration, it is important for everyone to take precautionary measures to ensure safety. Fireworks should only be purchased from trusted vendors who have the necessary licenses. It is crucial to have adult supervision when using fireworks. Make sure to follow the safety guidelines for fireworks rigorously. Use a candle or agarbatti to light the fireworks. Keep a bottle of water nearby to quickly extinguish any fires in their early stages. Sky fireworks should be launched in designated safe areas to ensure they fall harmlessly. When disposing of fireworks, immerse them in water properly.
The production, sale, and usage of firecrackers that generate noise exceeding 125 dB (A1) or 145 PK within a four-meter radius from the explosion point are strictly forbidden. Additionally, fireworks that produce noise should not be ignited between 10 pm and 5 am. When igniting fireworks, avoid holding them in your hand; instead, place them at a safe distance before lighting. Refrain from using containers or utensils to light fireworks. For sky fireworks, avoid lighting them in areas with overhead barriers, such as trees, leaves, wires, and so on. Also, ensure that sky fireworks are not set off in proximity to buildings to prevent them from entering through doors and windows, potentially causing a fire within the structure.
Fireworks must not be utilized indoors or in areas frequented by the public. Avoid any attempts to experiment with or create your own fireworks. In case of malfunctioning fireworks, observe them for a brief period, then submerge them in water and dispose of them without attempting to relight them. Do not use counterfeit or unauthorized fireworks. Parents should exercise caution and not permit children to handle firecrackers independently.
