Udupi: In connection with the vandalising of the statue of St. Anthony at Our Lady of Health Church, the Shirva Police have arrested one person.

The detainee named Benedict D’souza (57) is said to be a native of Udupi, residing in Shirva and a driver by profession.

An alcoholic by habit, he was upset that his prayers were not answered by St. Anthony and hence while trying to shift the statue’s location it fell down.

His wife and daughter are settled abroad.
