Udupi: An accident claimed the lives of three persons in a family at Padigaru near Perdoor during the wee hours on Sunday, December 7.

The mishap occurred when their car collided head-on with a truck. Three of the five passengers died instantly while two others were badly injured.

The deceased have been identified as Manorama (62), her son Manohar (42), and Manohar’s wife Swathi (32), residents of Someshwar.

Manohar’s children Manasa and Sanjana (6), who were seriously injured, were rushed to a private hospital in Manipal. The condition of the injured is critical.

It is learnt that the family was returning from Someshwar after visiting the Mulki temple in the Hyundai Santro car.

A case has been registered in the Hiriyadka Police Station.
