1,300 cops to be deployed, 42 VVIPs expected to take part in Paryaya

Udupi: About 1,300 police personnel will be deployed on duty for the the Paryaya festival to be celebrated here on January 17 and 18, Udupi Superintendent of Police Annamalai informed.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday January 13, he said that as many as 42 VVIPs including a former deputy prime minister and three former chief ministers are expected to participate in the Paryaya.

Speaking further, Annamalai said that 75 CCTV cameras will be setup at vantage points. Two control rooms, one at Diana Circle and the other at Car Street will help trace missing children in addition to guiding the public.

Sale and supply of liquor would be banned in liquor shops, clubs and hotels during Paryaya from the midnight of January 16 to January 18 in the Udupi City Municipal Council limits.
