Mangaluru: During his district tour, Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, responsible for Housing, Wakf, and Minority Welfare, conducted an impromptu inspection of a post-matric boys’ hostel for minorities on Valencia Road in Mangaluru. The visit, accompanied by Naseer Ahmed, the political secretary to the chief minister, revealed alarming conditions, particularly in the hostel’s restrooms.

Minister Zameer Ahmed was taken aback by the lack of cleanliness and inadequate maintenance. Students also voiced their grievances, expressing dissatisfaction with the quality of food, citing irregularities such as infrequent chicken servings and deviations from the meal plan.

The students conveyed their concerns, stating, “In our five-year stay, we haven’t received any bedsheets, pillows, or any care.” In response, the minister promptly suspended Taluk Extension Officer Manjunath and instructed DMO Jinendra and warden Ashok to issue show cause notices.
