Sullia: A person who snatched a gold chain worth Rs 24,000 from a girl’s neck has been nabbed by the Sullia police. Dileep(19) from Madappady in Sullia taluk is the arrested.
On July 4, when Asha Shetty was walking on her way to a local temple, a motorist had pushed her down and snatched the chain from her neck and escaped. Sullia police who took up the investigation nabbed the man and seized the stolen chain and the bike used for the purpose. During interrogation, Dileep confessed to have committed the crime, said Sullia circle inspector.

CCTV helps police

The crime was recorded in the CCTV installed on the spot which helped police to nab him within a week of crime.

Dileep was working in several bars in the town and had bought a new bike. After stealing chain he had planned to move to Tamil Nadu in search of work.
