Belthangady: A young trekker, died of cardiac arrest while returning from a trek on Sunday, February 8.

The deceased has been identified as Ashil (29) from Mangaluru, an employee with a private travel firm.

Ashil was among a group of 31 people from Youth Hostel Association of India, Mangaluru who had gone trekking into Ambatemale forest near Neriya during the weekend.

It is said that the group used to go on treks every month. The group was returning to Mangaluru when Ashil suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away.
