Puttur: A youth was allegedly assaulted by a group of six members for claiming prize money that he had won in a cricket tournament.

Mustafa (28), son of Mohiudeen, resident of Eshwaramangala was assaulted and has been hospitalised.

Mustafa in his complaint said that, Abdul Kunji, Umar BC, Hameer BC, Zubair, Riyaz, organized a cricket tournament near Eshwarmangala ground.

As per the rules of the tournament they are supposed to hand over Rs. 8,000 to the winner.

When Musthafa, who is eligible to claim the prize money, inquired them about the same, an altercation broke out and the gang of six ended up attacking Musthafa.
