Yettinahole effect? 6,178 NOTA votes registered in DK

Mangaluru: In protest against controversial Yettinahole project, two percent of the voters from Dakshina Kannada have chosen NOTA option.
The people of the district have rejected both the major political parties- the Congress and the BJP for their stand on controversial water project.

Earlier Green activists of Sahyadri Sanchaya, had appealed to voters to exercise NOTA option in protest against the Yettinahole project. They had campaigned for the same in Belthangady, Puttur and Bantwal taluks.

In Puttur taluk panchayath number of NOTA votes were more than the votes received by the Congress candidate.

In the district, 2950 NOTA votes in taluk panchayaths and 3228 votes were registered in Zilla panchayats. Total 6,178 NOTA votes were cast in the district.

Meanwhile, the JD(S) and the SDPI have failed to open account in the district.
